Bill payment in cash is perhaps the most common modes that is being followed by millions of Indians. Although over the recent years various other modes of bill payment have been introduced in the country in different sectors but cash payment remains to be the popular one. Nowadays bill payment though bank cheques and through the Internet is also done by a significant number of consumers of varied utility services. The electricity service providers in India such as the likes of CESC, WBSEB, Tata Power, Ahmedabad Electricity Corporation, Reliance Energy facilitates the process of bill payment in Cash. In such case the consumers usually have to go to the respective offices of these companies and deposit the stipulated amount in cash to the cash counter.

In certain cases the bills are also being deposited in the various public sector undertaking banks who have got collaborations with the utility service providers. While making bill payment in cash in the banks the consumer has got to fill certain forms and deposit the required sum along with the filled up form.

The bank which acts as an intermediary then issues a receipt to the consumer. Paying bills in the banks have been appreciated by a large section of the society. By connecting the rural regions with advanced telecommunication links, bill payment by the means of Internet has to be done. In this respect the Indian government is taking a number of adequate steps.

Water bills are also payed in cash in most of the parts of the country. Even the LPG bills are also usually paid in cash but in most of the cases the representatives of the gas providing company comes to the door steps of the consumers to collect the bill payment in cash. Even the insurance premiums are also payed in cash. Insurance of varied types be it life insurance or general insurance are paid in cash. The consumers can even deposit the required sum of the insurance premiums in some designated banks. Much more steps must be taken so as to improve the bill payment procedures in India so that the consumers as well as the service providers get maximum benefit.
